So we were never clear about this. So lets get on some DL's of what a mod can do.
In General, our mods can range differently and permissions are also different. However - these will always follow. Either with an Admin or a Moderator.
1) You are NOT allowed to delete posts, or topics, EVER. You are ONLY allowed to remove images of the following.
a) Extreme gore or violence.
b) Nudity
c) Advertising.
d) Anything that is out of line. Or just plain "Don't fucking post that...". If the thread is about posting pictures of cupcakes, and someone comes in and posts a picture of a guy in a wheelchair, then remove the image, and in its place insert the following:
Quote:
[snip]/[image removed]/[image deleted] (Whatever that states you removed the image) Edit: reason.
*You are NEVER allowed to delete a post. ONLY to remove images. The ONLY time you are allowed to delete a post, is Advertising. Otherwise, you LOCK the topic, after posting a message as to WHY the thread is locked. This can be followed by anything, so long as it still shows the real reason. For example: Quote:
Topic: Jews should be killed. All hail the superior race.
Imananazi: Whites r da best
Moderator: Shut up. You're a fag and should die in a fire, get the fuck out, no supreme ignorance allowed. *Locked Thread*
This is perfectly acceptable. Be creative when dealing with dumbasses like these. You are allowed to flame...have fun with this one. In general, when locking topics - be creative with your locking message if you like, if they deserve it.
This is not:
Quote:
Topic: Jews should be killed. All hail the superior race.
Imananazi: Whites r da best
Moderator: Stfu,gtfo. *Locked Thread*
You must explain the reason as well.
In short - you're only allowed to LOCK threads, not delete them. Ever. You can remove images, you can edit posts. You CANNOT delete them.
3) You are NEVER allowed to EDIT a post to change what the poster says. Unless it contains a link that would conflict with our rules. Or if it is not legal.
4) You are NEVER allowed to BAN a user without first consulting an admin. If you have to, send a private message with the reason and evidence to support. If you need to do an immediate ban - say for example a user continuing to post nonsense or ignoring your authority - feel free to ban them temporarily, then consult an admin with reasons.
5) You're NEVER allowed to use ANY of your moderator permissions for personal reasons.
6) Use your common sense. If theres a guy posting goatse, what do our rules say? Perma ban the bastard, you don't need us to tell you to do that. Overall, we give moderator positions to those we can trust.
If you suck at it, we take you off. If you abuse it, we remove you from the site, if you think you own everything because you're now a mod, we're going to have to kill you.
Those are the mod rules, follow them well, and keep the forum in order.
